“Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed in splendor and majesty.”
Psalm 104:1 NIV

The Old Testament is written in mostly Hebrew and some Aramaic; the New Testament is written in Greek. I have a Concordance and a Vine’s Dictionary. The Concordance is a Biblical Thesaurus. It is dependent on what version of the Bible you’re reading. It lists the words of the Bible and connects them to their Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek origin. It is so that you are able to trace the original meaning of the word. Since, some of the original meaning is lost in, translation, culture, and time period. Vine’s Dictionary is a King James Version dictionary and it lists the different meanings of a work across the Bible.

The Hebrew word for clothed is labas (laybas). It means “to put on.” As in to put on clothes. It can also mean a figurative garment. As in God is clothed in these abstract qualities. Splendor. Majesty.

“How many are your works, Lord!
In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
There is the sea, vast and spacious,
teeming with creatures beyond number-
living things both large and small.”
104:24-25 NIV

The vastness of God is evident in creation.

“All creatures look to you
to give them their food at the proper time.
When you give it to them.
they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
they are satisfied with good things.
When you hide your face,
they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust.
When you send your Spirit,
they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.”
104:27-30 NIV

Initially God felt far away and hands-off. Then I assigned him qualities of people. Next, I struggled to trust and have faith. Now, as I surrender and submit, He is the God of complete provisions. I believe that’s the God he wants to be to us all. He lets us decide.

“May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works-
he who looks at the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains, and they smoke.”
104:31-32 NIV
