“Be good to your servant while I live,
that I may obey your word.”
Psalm 119:17 NIV

God wants to give us a life that makes serving Him easy.

“Open my eyes that I may see
wonderful things in your law.
I am a stranger on earth;
do not hide your commands from me.
My soul is consumed with longing
for your laws at all times.”
119:18-20 NIV

God wants to give us a life that makes following His commands easy.

“You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed,
those who stray from your commands.
Remove from me their scorn and contempt,
for I keep your statutes.
119:21-22 NIV

This has been the most disconcerting part for me. People will not like you because of your light.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16 NIV

You have to be the light anyway. The light is from God and your purpose is to give it to others. Can you imagine what life would look like if we are all a light for others?

“Though rulers sit together and slander me,
your servant will meditate on your decrees.”
Psalm 119:23 NIV

Light brings out darkness in others.

“I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luke 10:19-20 NIV

Be the light. Nothing can stand against God’s will.

“Your statutes are my delight;
they are my counselors.”
Psalm 119:24 NIV

I’m reading the Bible in chronological order and it is always relevant for the season of life that I am in. The Bible has transformative powers.
