“May your unfailing love come to me, Lord
your salvation, according to your promise;
then I can answer anyone who taunts me,
for I trust in your word.
Never take your word of truth from my mouth,
for I have put my hope in your laws.
I will always obey your law,
forever and ever.
I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought your precepts.
I will speak of your statutes before kings
and will not be put to shame.
for I delight in your commands
because I love them.
I reach out for your commands, which I love
that I may meditate on your decrees.
Psalm 119:41-48 NIV
God gives us His unfailing love and we just need faith to believe.
In His love, we can stand against anyone and anything that comes our way!
In His love, we can share our testimony!
In His love, we know that His laws are for our protection!
In His love, we walk in the freedom of who He calls us to be!
In His love, we can confidently share the goodness of God!
Last night, I watched a message by Change Church with pastors, Dr Daniels and Dr. Dudley. Part of the message was about Joseph in Genesis 37-50. I think it’s a great visual of faith in the Psalm above. Joseph is one of twelve brothers. He is his father’s favorite son and despised by his brothers because of it. God speaks to Joseph in dreams. His brothers plot to sell him off into slavery. Joseph is faithful and he ends up working for Pharoah’s top official, Potiphar. He is so good at his work, that he rises in command. Potiphar’s wife, lies on Joseph and he is thrown into prison.
Joseph is faithful in prison.
Twice Joseph suffers deep betrayals and it is in prison that God develops Joseph’s gifting more. In the worst part of his story, while he is in prison, Joseph begins to interpret dreams. I loved this part of the message so much! Joseph interprets Pharoah’s dream and Pharoah makes him governor of Egypt. Guess what? Joseph is now in position to save his entire family.
A position of wealth and power.
A position of future provision for all of Israel.
We live in a world that has harm and pain. We serve a God that uses people’s harmful ways to set up future provisions for us. And God can use, even the lows of life to develop our gifting.
Even in the lows!
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Genesis 2:15 NIV
This world is ours to take care of. Can you imagine what life would look like if we were all working in purpose according to our gifting for the collective good?
God has a plan and purpose for each of us.
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are the calked according to His purpose.
